Twitter and some social media

Twitter screenshot

I have not been writing thing s about pronexin reviews or whatever shit life log. Been busy hanging around in Twitter.

The interesting thing I found about Twitter is… It is same like Facebook. They both…

  • Follow/Add friend to the update list
  • Share url and video
  • Chat on the site itself (seriously who doesn’t chat in Twitter?)

I wanted to install the infamous TweetDeck, but the loading is so slow, comparing to seesmic, and they both are slow… Currently using TwitterGadget using Google Chrome application. But that can’t really help with multi account :?

Anything that is fast loading and can login multi account?

How Twitter helps Sibu’s miracle

It is about time to believe what Internet can do for you. Seriously, enough example of the help from social media.

At early polling day in Sibu, I monitor the Twitter. Make 100% sure I did not miss a single piece of Tweet about Sibu polling going on. Early 8.00am onward the turnout only 30%+ and no miracle would happen if it was so. Some say because many Christian are still in church Sunday services. With some Tweet calling Sibu people to vote in their respective location, after 10.00am the turnout raised rapidly to 50% almost 60%, not sure why it was stated as 70% at 10.00pm though.

Twitter

I saw some volunteer are bringing their netbooks to the polling office. Especially from @Sibu4Change. I got most update from them even in Dewan Suara where people are prohibited to go in.

Work on it BN, seriously. I saw KJ did a great job on his blog and Twitter. The rest are just robotic update. No reply, no update beside last minute. I followed @NajibRazak before, all I got was his meeting agenda :?

What social network is all about

Sibu bird view

Coming back home, I am deeply appreciate my Streamyx connection :) Malaysia got to have the best Internet broadband, seeing how it developed, don’t compare to Singapore or Korea then. First thing we both did once I stepped back home was plugged in my laptop (Which I brought it to Indonesia) and start checking online credit report, bills and letters at home and none but not least – social network sites.

Social network sites

Strangely, it became something I need to check into daily. Not because I wanted to look for somebody to chat with, but to find new stuff, discover new things.

What’s happening?

Twitter is newsIf you ask me, I would say Twitter is the news portal I read everyday. Notice that it changed the question from “What are you doing?” to “What’s happening?“. So obviously, Tweeples (As in Twitter People or Twitter User) don’t want to know your location already, they wanted to know what is happening in your location instead.

Gossip or a new Topic?

FacebookI’ve just encountered a family, where they would talk about what this relative or that friends are doing. I’m not sure if I would say it is a gossip or a topic in a family conversation. The Facebook status stated “What’s on your mind?), whoever really falling too deep into the trap will soon discover that they should be too honest on Facebook.

If I would need to sum up these 2 social network sites. They ARE definitely about gossip and gossip and more gossip!

Twitter placement on the web

So you’ve joined Twitter, the hip is still going great. Everyone updating their recent activities, you’re happy to see what they’re doing; they are happy to know you’re telling them too.

You decided it is time to place a Twitter update on your weblog, to show to the wilder audiences. You placed it nicely on the blog, ended up the loading takes forever, and your sidebar doesn’t shows up before the Twitter update list.

Loading Twitter

That is the disadvantage of placing Twitter update on a blog.

The last thing you need to consider before placing a Twitter update is the placement of the updates.

Say, you want to emphasize your Twitter status instead, so you place it on top. The updates load forever (Either Twitter is overload or down) and so is your content. You might miss a visitor.

I would prefer to place on the bottom footer. Let the content load first and slowing show the Twitter updates. However, if you insist the update to place at the sidebar, well, position it :) See a demo here :)

Site loading

The cool thing about a webpage and its loading is, it load according to the code written, from top to bottom, in other word, YOU decide which to load.

Twitter code and DIV

#container {position: relative;}
#twitter-update {position: absolute;}

<div id=”container”>

<div id=”header”></div><!– END Header –>
<div id=”content”></div><!– END Content –>
<div id=”aside”></div><!– END Aside –>
<div id=”footer”>© Copyrighted 2010</div>

<div id=”twitter-update”>
<ul id=”twitter_update_list”>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://twitter.com/javascripts/blogger.js”></script>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/wongpk.json?callback=twitterCallback2&count=1″></script>
</ul>
</div>

</div><!– END Container –>

A cool thing about positioning in CSS is, the placement is all up to you. You can position:relative a container DIV and then place a position:absolute DIV on the bottom and still can have it place on top of the container.

Twitter update placement

With both cool stuffs together, you can literary place Twitter update anywhere on your blog yet able to load the content first.

P/S: This is very useful for those who having a slow connection :P

Twiblog

  • Nowadays Twitter is way too fun to stalk people and just talk shit :lol:
  • Everything that added Twi- will be related with twitter, or perhaps micro-blogging?
  • Back from Perhentian vacation, fun and tiring :P
  • Then went to Melaka, bought a wooden gun :lol:
  • Car air-con broken down, dammit!

Just when everybody getting boring with Twitter, I started to play with it :P It’s never too late though. A few things I am really headache with were the car condition :( Air-con is not functioning now, have to get to the garage soon, Proton-oh-Proton, when will you improve the quality of your product??? The landlord’s father brought a few pressure washers here. Thinking of washing my car this weekend now :D

Then my skin getting dark. When it getting dark, I need to expect Malay language. The other day I went to Sunway Pyramid, have a walk into a gift shop, the Chinese couple, look at me for a while, the girl came and say “Ini semua 5 ringgit sahaja.” Then we (the couple, my girlfriend and I) paused for a while. She continued “Yang sana tu pun sama juga, yang lain 3 ringgit.” Then I walked out the shop when my girlfriend bust out with laughs. The guy told the girl I was Chinese.

No, I am not angry for that. I just don’t know how should I react on that kind of situation, you feel me? The whole situation was freezing, how could I turned to her and tell her “Hehe… I am Chinese.” or “Hello? KNN, you cannot see I am Chinese is it?“…
