Well, new year again. Can’t believe I’ve already spent my another year in Puchong again. Good thing is, I started to really like Puchong than Sibu Not for the shopping and etc. Just for I can live my own life with only my wife and I.

Went back Sibu quite early this time, and shorten the time spending here, so I’ve been rushing for cleaning home stuff. Changing colours or upholstery fabric, hanging all those red thingy stuff… And whatever it is to show that this house belongs to a Chinese folks. Surprisingly it seems that fireworks was legalized this year.

Will be at Puchong tomorrow evening and then head off to Medan. Tight schedule for a new year trip. But work is along side with me 24/7

Due to some urgent personal matter, I scheduled a light travel back home for a few days.

Small matter, but as Malaysian like to put it, it is so huge that I ended up need to come back just for the sake of talk through it when a phone call can pretty much settle 90% of the issue, unlike Texas semi accidents needing all those lawyers and stuff.

So in Travel 360, it seems that we are in June, the green month, that everything should be keep green. It suggested that:

Use less paper as possible

Use both side of the paper

Keep old furniture creatively used instead of throw away

Keep electrical item off when not needed

Some I have forgotten. But let’s get back to home and green stuff.

When I was having dinner with family, the electric shut off, we keep trying but it just doesn’t want to turn on. We all run around the house in total darkness to fine switch to switch off all unnecessary plug. To my surprise, it seems that all plug was turned on!!!

Speaking of keep thing green on furniture part, you really need to truthly be amazed by how most Sibuan keep their furniture or recycle. Most family tend to keep everything in the house, even a broken furniture!

Home is still green.

P/S: The weather at night is freaking cold!

While I was wandering with a friend in a pool center about his billiard supplies, the supplier came to me and asked “So, are you going to go home this mid-April?”.

At first I don’t know why he asked me to go home, until he said the word “State Election”.

To be honest, I haven’t register as a voter yet, and haven’t have the desire to do. Maybe the affection of all those political thing haven’t really reach me yet; maybe I will not be getting anything from voting yet, I don’t know.

But I like the term “Go home” though. Because I would love to see some improvement made in Sibu. But that remind me of… The Sibu drivers skill… When a horn is a deadly thing to press; when their father owned the road. The word “What’s the point?” came in… So… Yeah, I’ll be still sitting here doing the same thing I do everyday – Work!

Sound to me like SMC (Sibu Municipal Council) is getting more stingy, or overly corrupted nowadays.

A few days ago, they carried a road upgrade work on my resident area without notice, without help.

A lot of residents here are shock paniced with the surprise work SMC brought in, and did not called to extend our bridge. We all here have to spend money building a new one, which SMC just whipping their arse and leave.

But the story doesn’t end there. Today they came again to apply tar onto it, after almost a week! However, due to their overly clever engineer and accountant, that is all they can “afford”

The rest are on our own, again! Means, we resident here is going to need to spend our money for their upgrading work again.

Yes, local election is needed!

Here in Sibu, you can find the most ridiculous incident of all Malaysia. Not because the people are under educated, but because people has the mindset of they are the one who paying for… Everything. Every single thing, as long as they paid the entrance fee, they are the one in charge and it is up to them on how to use/abuse the environment.

Once they was this bus driver (long journey) tells me “Ini orang, bayar 70 sen, duduk macam raja. Macam lah 70 sen sebesar tayar bus ni.“. Yes, all their money is bigger than yours in any amount, they are.

Toilet graffiti, a common problem in all Malaysia. But Toilet King was started from Sibu, the 20 sen seems so big for everyone.

Did you ever heard of a joke “Nowadays everything need money, even borrowing a toilet need to pay 20 sen“? But the context did not say graffiti is to beautify the toilet too.

Sibu has some of the best public toilet in Malaysia. Toilet King, Robert Lau created a few conceptual toilet in Sibu, all those are wasted due to the graffiti.

If you not knowing already, the Toilet King just pass away yesterday. Sibu MP and Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew, died Friday after battling liver cancer. Who is taking his seat, I mean on the other side of politician Long distance movers are going to bring back his body to Sibu, and some even expect a holiday in Sibu

Anyway, expect a huge toto and magnum number of 1110 or 6767

Well, Visit Sibu 2009 has just past, but the program is on-going like all others government project. It’s always work until new name replaced it.
Since I’m not born in Sibu, I think I have more chance to give shit comment about it than not. Freedom of speech rocks!

6 shopping mall, none of them even close to attractive

Name it, Wisma Sanyan (tallest building in Sarawak), Medan Mall, Delta Mall and etc. They are not attractive because they are small. You can probably find the same shop/branches on all of them.

Lots of parks, no cleaning

Sibuan like to have power and loves their association for some reason. Park or a Garden is their choice to be regconised for… I don’t know what reason. They would go 200% time and energy, placing all outdoor cushions over it, make it the best and cost the most. After building the park, that’s all. No renewal, no cleaning (well, maybe they do) and leaving them for years. Probably a month before election there will be some rennovation or cleaning.

Pasar malam

Probably like took some 150m x 30m of space. Due to the restriction of licensening and some say it is making the town look unattractive, so there is no new stall coming out. Well, happen like shopping malls, they all just the same.

I think beside drink, nothing much you can do in Sibu town at night. Nothing!

With the strategically located beside Rejang River, there is no plan for it at all. How stupid can this government be. It’s just a waste. Panda Cruise too, a waste!

Coming back to Sibu, I can’t help but to take a walk in Wisma Sanyan, it is something must-do everytime I came back. Because, Sing Kwok is full of smoke smell, Medan Mall takes only 5 minutes to finish the whole mall, Delta Mall also taking less then 5 minutes to finish the whole mall. The only mall that has more variety and can spend some times in it, is only Wisma Sanyan.

Seriously, eat is one thing we all must do, but to have a very nice dinner within a tight budget, Sibu it is. Crab, claypot, some meat, some vege, can’t cost you over RM100. Why not?

I really back loving Sibu, not only for the friends here, but also the environment It is a good choice to come back here instead. Due to my hectic activity last week, I got some fever, I guess. Time to get enough rest and back Medan again next 2 weeks. Gosh, I hate taking plane!

I bet nobody knows about it if you’re not from Sibu. This tourism in Sibu really suck when it comes to marketing their town. I don’t even know it until a friend of mine tells me about it then only I start thinking about where to go if I were to travel to Sibu…

Eat

Famous food will be Kampua, Kompia, Ting Bian Hu and Char Hung Gan. With the super duper competitive price there, I’m sure one will get a few kilo in weight with a 3 days 2 nights tour.

Pork

I’m glad that Sibu citizen aren’t that sensitive with pork. Everywhere you can see people selling pork. Even super store also allow pork to be sold with others halal goods, not like those super store here, where they separate halal and non-halal goods.

Garden

I think Sibu has the most garden/park around the town. I’m not talking about the small park with a children playground. I’m talking about million ringgit garden maintain by certain organisation. Wong Nai Siong garden, Gu Tian Park and etc.

Law

In Sibu, everybody is a law maker That’s a good thing, but not a harmony thing though. I can’t reckon anything that happen in Sibu is illegal though. Believe it or not, when police blocking a certain road, 100 meters away there will be an illegal racing. Try Jalan Pedada

House

Go ahead, impress yourself with the size of the house there. A bungalow built with underground parking? You get it here. A bungalow with a helicopter landing space, you get it here. Shit you not, I bet Taiwanese will be regret for not coming here to film their rich-guy-poor-girl-drama here.

Toilet

Most toilet here built with huge budget, new concept and innovative. The Toilet King is from Sibu, so you can expect the best toilet in Malaysia here as well

And on and on… Speaking of Sibu. It’s been 4 months I didn’t go back. Hmmm… Let’s see when I can have a cheap flight.

P/S: Do you know that only Sibu’s McDonald’s has chinese name on it?

On my way to my friend’s house on Chinese New Year, this policeman doesn’t seems to care much on their number plat, but care too much on ours Apa lah~ That’s why auto insurance quote is very important, especially this few day Sibu start raining again, and Ah Jui coming to town again. I hate it, every time either I’m going out from Sibu or coming back to Sibu, Ah Jui love to come here and kacau kacau me.

I still remember last time when I off to KL, I have to hang all the luggage on my head, and the water level were on my knee! Now I wonder will it happen again or not

This Chinese New Year has been the most fulfilled year for me. All my friends from outstation or oversea came back, we’ve meet up after so many years of study and of course have fun ourselves I didn’t come back for Chinese New Year last year because I was spending time traveling in Medan, Indonesia

This is one of my old friend’s house, I didn’t meet him for years after SMK Sacred Heart, but I manage to catch him up in KL back few years. Well, as seen in the picture, he lived quite far from town and the view and the air there were so amazing, his house area was planted by thousand kind of fruit and vegetable, one which I love to have a look was dragon fruit

It’s not easy to spot all age dragon fruit though, but I manage to snap a few of them I actually wanted to take some seed or small dragon fruit plant and plant myself at home, but due to the big maintenance that needed for this plant, I gave up I’m too lazy in planting thing, I’m not wuching anyway
