I have to rant now

I have no choice but to give rant on my recent newly registered P1 wimax. There are too many things happen that I cannot stand on the unprofessional services. There are far too much area they needed to improve to compete with any other broadband service provider. This is my experience of the month

Customer service

Believe it or not, you need to pay your own for calling them. I don’t know what’s so difficult for a big company to get a 1800 hotline. Each time calling there’ll be at least RM5 for the waiting and listening to their advertisement. Not to mention the time you waiting for their reply.

Technician support

Well, what can I say? The same keep on repeating like how Streamyx asking you to restart modem, use direct connection and etc. They gone even worst by no technician coming to your house, even if they do, it’ll be like a month later. How to even compete with any other broadband provider?

Myth about connection

When they said, static green LED lighting means the connection is stable. But they never state that it can connect to the Internet. Trust me, it doesn’t. If this is not a myth I don’t know what is.

My belief about P1 is different though, because such simple task can’t complete should mean something, anything that isn’t about P1.

Out sourcing customer service

That’s why it charging me for calling them. Some more they’re all well-trained to say the same thing again and again and again.

Less to no technicians

Because P1 is way too easy to setup on your computer or laptop, there’s actually no need of any technician to even activate your account. So they think they do not need any technicians. One month is way too long to wait for one technician to come and check the modem or the wave (or whatever you call it is). And since there’s this thing called QoS management, the connection/modem can be easily boost up in no time. You call, we boost; you don’t call, we cut down so other can enjoy first before you call.

Myth is actually fact

Like I mentioned about the management system. You’ll have to check into QoS management and come back to here.

Testing Ubuntu again

It’s been years since I last touching Ubuntu. Since the improvement has been made and some even shout how good it was, I ordered a CD weeks ago. I don’t know why this time the CD comes so fast, though it’s gonna take months. Sure have a truck rental there to send tons of CD everyday.

Well, nothing much have change (Security wise? I don’t know, who cares anyway?!), they added some effect like Windows Vista, which is garbage for me. Now I’ll have to get use to something else :) Gonna love how Ubuntu works nowadays! Head off to sleep now. Weird, this few days seems to be tired… Doesn’t matter how many hour I sleep at night doesn’t really help the time I’m in office. Brand’s might help?

Second attempt

So I got P1 modem that not working at first. Anyway, this weekend I’ve been trying to make it work. Because some promoters kept telling me that my area has coverage but under maintenance and asked me to wait for another few more days or weeks to try it.
P1 modem location near window
Going back home, I keep on adjust the location in my room and finally got some signal from the modem. Each time the LED light turned orange I’ll get my nerve up :? The connection is not as stable as I expected. What I expect was a stable connection that will not disconnect itself when it’s too free or on heavy usage. Pinging and test my speed on their website, it comes out…
P1 connection when slow
This is when their connection showing some slow signal (Even the LED is in green color though).
P1 connection when fast
This is when their connection is too good. And honestly this is the first experience on broadband. I signed up with the 400kbps package :D Shit you not, this tiny package speed beat Streamyx 1.2mbps hands down! Now I know what’s that call a “broadband”. But disconnect quite often though :( I’ve give it a test on downloading some files online…
P1 download speed
Running at 40kbps is not easy in Malaysia. With Streamyx 1.2mbps at home, if it runs 25+kbps I could sleep smiling already.

Everything is good, just the frequent of disconnection. I’m waiting for them to upgrade a little bit. And pray the Lord this connection gonna keep as long as I’m using them. Because I hate it when they started to tell me connection is like water pipe, the more people using it the slower it will go or whatever reason.

Who to blame

I don’t know who to choose to blame over the connectivity of my P1, the promoter who excited to earn the commission I’m gonna pay him or P1 who did not give a full information for the promoter/reseller? I re-registered P1 again, because they mentioned that there’s coverage at my area, so happily I took the modem back home again thinking to be able to online using P1 instead of Streamyx. But there is thing I don’t know, and nobody told me until I called back into the customer support.

Under Maintenance

P1 Modem
Well, if the maintenance only takes a few days is fine, because I got 15 days trial which I can still be able to test the connection. But this maintenance taking a few weeks!!! That’s the information I got from the customer support though.
P1 coverage
Checking into P1 website for coverage, it clearly stated that my area have coverage already, but! There’s no indication about it’s under maintenance or even a simple quick note on the site (Like announcement in Streamyx site maybe?).

Here is so far I found from P1 customer support:
1, Don’t waste time email them from the contact form on P1 website. No reply from my side.
2, Give information that I already know. They don’t solve me problem, but give me some choices.

Hell, I’m giving it a few more days to see if the coverage is up or not. If not, send back the modem and I’m banning P1. If there’s connection, I’ll test it, if not satisfy, send back modem. In the end of the day, it’s Malaysia, nothing even close to the word “average”.

One thinking

I’m not sure if these taxi drivers are thinking too much on greedy to charge a sky high fee in this Chinese New Year or they thought we all upgraded in this Chinese New Year. Sometimes it is hard to judge, especially when I am the outsider. The stories goes like this…
Hari Raya Cina
One day when I went out by bus to ioi and bought a bucket of items thinking to get a taxi instead of waiting for bus to come, which taking a lot more time to wait on the bus station. So I head over to one taxi driver and tell him the location I wanna go. The taxi driver charged a freaking RM20 while usually only RM13 and less if using meter. I asked why? Their answered were all the same and simple, it’s Chinese New Year. I wonder what Chinese New Year gotta do with the raising fee? I overheard another taxi driver said “Ini hari mesti RM20 lebih, kalau tak, tak yah la bawa! Ini hari aku tunggu 4 jam untuk satu. Dari 8.30 pagi tunggu tunggu sampai 12.30 petang baru ada orang hantar.” The rest was so impress, impress by the possibility of charging a lot instead of wasting time waiting there. It’s not like working on a small business franchise that you should wait.

For me, I would think about time wasted waiting there instead of charging a sky high fee for only one business. Think about it, if the 4 hours I have 5 customers earning me RM15 each and I’ll get RM75; instead of only RM20. I’m pretty sure using the gas wouldn’t cost a lot. But whatever, it’s their thinking.
