The key to better process
I can’t help but wonder why is it that web designers and developers seems to be a tools instead of partner. The one reason I can find about this is because the market value changed, or… Yet to come for a change.
I do however, work as a tools before – Work and shut up. Pretty simple task, like the client asked me to change this, I change; do that I do. Because the client doens’t has the knowledge or tools to do the design and development himself/herself, so I am the tools.
That is starting to change, not just me. As I get in-depth into this field, I started to think differently, from tools to a partners. That can explain by why social media has been a hit for marketers – Interactive with client.
Partner, in term of solution provider. No more the “What do you need?” question, but “What is your goal?” or “What is the purpose?” instead. This help a better understanding to start something and cut down the overall revision.
The problem with most client getting frustrated is because they cannot get something they want, and designers and developers doesn’t get what exactly the client needs.
Communication is the key, a tool doesn’t communicate. Brainless working doesn’t work anymore…
Racist?
There is this old saying “When you point one finger to another person, there are 3 fingers pointing yourself”
Last night, there was this small meeting between tenants with the community group of this condominium. The meeting turned chaos for a while then slow down after that. However, it still end quite ok, and I did not attend the full meeting as well, since it is quite waste of time after the chaos happen.
If I were to tell you where I live, I think you will be shock as well. But let’s not going that way. What I wanted to tell is, the experience about this situation.
The Chairman was nice, he dare challenge everybody, anybody. I like the guts and that is exactly why he is the chairman. However, most tenants here are… Well, college boys and tend to… Act smart. But the “smart” was actually racist when they don’t wanted to be treated differently.
The thing is, if you don’t wanted to be racially different, try to put race aside when facing problem. Because when you put race in front, you know, you wanted to be treated like that.
Another lesson worth learning
Not only did the lesson should be learn, it should always keep in mind about it.
You see, my mother, owns a furniture stores, selling all type of furniture tables, bedroom set and dinning set and all that you can name. Me however, getting bored in the store back then. Well, I went to the store when I’m having holidays, I was already a college student back then. Of course staying at the store in holiday is not an option for me.
Sometimes too, I went to the store to save it from flood, it was located somewhere near Rejang river, sigh…
Anyway, as I grow up, I need to get myself furniture. Usually, IKEA is not in my list of shopping when it comes to furniture, the big one. Bedroom set, 6 feets working table, office chair and etc. Those are rocket high price in IKEA, so I hop to some normal furniture store.
Without the experience from my mother store, I always pick on the bad one, or rather worst of its kind.
Lesson number one: Learn EVERYTHING even if you don’t like it, it helps… In the future.
Then, it comes to… Research. We can almost find anything and everything to have a clue how to start something on the Internet nowadays. Professional bloggers of all area of field, eweb magazine and of course, Wikipedia.
Lesson number two: Everything research before act.
I learn my lesson big this month
