Mobile first, then the rest

After reading through the slide provided by a commentor, I am more than happy to give it a go right away. So I set the “Mobile first” approach to a theme for simplyWP. Well, not everyone can accept that, so it is best to test out my own thing :D

Octopink theme

Mobile stylesheet was place first, then to a bigger devices then only desktop. I find Google Chrome takes the last one as priority, which is good. Tested in both Firefox as well as Internet Explorer (8 and 9), they all runs pretty well.

Mobile and laptop

One problem came in was the media queries in Internet Explorer. IE6 doesn’t take it at all, instead, it takes the first one to show, which is the mobile version (where I will hide the NivoSlider). IE7 doesn’t take media queries well too. A little Google-it, I get MediaQueries.js, where it will enable IE to support the media queries.

The reason I put media queries at header instead of stylesheet is that IE doesn’t work well with it, even with the jQuery plugin.

This is one happy test, and I’m sure there will be more to explore.

Facebook Game

Aside

Addicted a bit with the Facebook game. Not too much, lucky, just a bit – Hopefully. Play diamonds online! I mean Diamond Dash. Manage to keep on top position for a long long period now.

Diamond Dash

This is quite easy actually, I finally found a trick to get higher and higher score – Get a lousiest computer you have, make the whole game lag a little bit. By then, you can see more clearly and get at least 0.1 second to think twice before clicking!

What do you want to eat?

I went to the usual restaurant again tonight. Due to some work, today I ate outside twice, both lunch and dinner. To be honest, I don’t like to eat at that restaurant at night, noon time is fine, but not night.

Rice

There is this tauke nio who like to read all the available menu, which I can’t even catch one of it. The worst thing is, I can’t really ask her to go away. When I asked for 5 minutes, she came back within 2 minutes, even if there is no other customers.

The other thing I hate, which all KL citizen like to do most – Speak their own language. I mean mother tongue. Now first thing first, I don’t speak Cantonese. If you like to be a chinese so much with me, then speak Mandarin, isn’t it much more pure chinese than Cantonese? If you can’t express yourself in Mandarin or English, or Malay, be my guest, I understand Cantonese, no problem.

Sotong

The tauke nio doing the same thing. Doesn’t matter how many times I tried to speak mandarin with her, she just don’t get it. And I blame it on myself for not speaking English with her the first day

In this days, wearing breeches doesn’t mean you need to talk horse to them. Talk to them in “human understand-able language” , Cantonese, FooChow, Hokkien are dialect, leave it at home and your close one, ok?

Talking

In Malaysia, we need to really respect the multi-racial concept. Either use Bahasa or English. Bahasa is the best though, seeing how it is the national language and I bet any of you speak a word or two don’t we?

Technology

Technology
Hardly see anyone who has a great writting skills nowadays. I copy a lot my chinese writting skills from my grandfather and my father. But nowadays, with keyboard with me, I don’t write much, even though I write, it will be really like a doctor writing, I can’t even recognise it after that. I blame that on the keyboard I have had with me for the past 7 years.

I believe those tablet has hand writing function as well, but who really used it? Even though we complain how small the keypad is, but we ended up using them like mad aren’t we? In today, writing is really nothing already, how many times you write? I write notes and those notes normally going to be dumped within the next 24 hours.

Safety, first!

Last week, my neighbor house got broke in. It was just evening, the time when people coming home from work, probably around 6.00 – 7.00pm. I was leaving my ouse at 6.00pm sharp as I remember.

By the time I came back home at 10.00pm, all neighbor is around the house kaypohing, not helping, just to learn more abnout the incident. There are 16 units here, so you bet the crowd drew my attention. The bad thing is, the lift was out of service, and we are living at 13th floor. First time walking 13 floor of stair.

Anyway, I tried to help by going down to ask for security to check with the police and etc. The thing is, those securities weren’t really care about the incident. Beside trying to cool me down giving me excuses like, the doors are all locked. Basically they are telling me, nothing they can do.

Lock

Now I know why some neighbor here has security cameras around their house. I can’t understand it when I first moved in, but now I do. Because the incompetent security and there is absolutely no safety living here.
