Just notice how fun it is

Back then, when I was just starting simplyWP, I did not think about cooking myself (Was still a uni student). So I spend a lot eating out.

The lifestyle from uni life to now do not have much different actually. Wake up, go college (work), come home (continue) work on simplyWP, sleep. But then I just don’t like to take the time and cook myself, even if I cook, it will most probably some canned food.

Today, with my age running up, I felt the weakness if I stay up too late at night. So healthy food is on of the priority for me.

Fish

Well, at first I keep on cooking, until recently, my wife started her journey of cooking as well. It is always good to be able to eat at home, especially I can adjust the amount of everything, from oil to water.

Mobile phone, is the evil of this century.

Because we all have one and we all tend to communicate with it than per person or by confidence.

Nokia phone

Last year, when I was in construction field, there was this contractor who like to play hide and seek with me, mobile phone is the only way to communicate and if one is not picking up or reply back, basically that person must have been missing on this World. Imagine how nervous your parent/you will get if you/your child don’t reply your call or smses.

The invention of mobile phone helps we, become not only lazy, but less responsible at the same time.

You don’t pick up calls you think will get you in trouble; you don’t pick up when you know you have RV loans to pay; you don’t pick up the call when you know you will be scolded for something you’ve done; you don’t pick up the call when you know it will annoy you. I can go on and on for the list.

It is easy to just press a button, but it will never solve your problem with the ringtone.

Mobile version or responsive design

PC desktops might started to become an unfamiliar word. Laptop, tablet and mobile is to head the coming years. Mobile web, back then we called it as WAP site. But now, the mobile web become, somehow standard web, there shouldn’t be any more mobile version and web version, they both works well in all devices (currently checked: iPad, iPhone, Opera Mini, Symbian Browser). At least in my opinion. I’ve been playing with some devices and research recently to get more understanding on how it works.

Screen resolution

Responsive web design become quite common nowadays, any site can easily become responsive, just a few code. I am strongly agree to apply that in all website I developed possible.

Responsive or not?

There are of cource some differences applied on mobile and desktop or I should say bigger screen and smaller screen.

Width

On desktop design, it can be fixed width. On mobile or some other tablet design, it is still best to work with fluid width (Damn lucky I started with fluid width back then). For iPad and iPhone, they seems to be able to zoom out the whole layout and let you “pitch” zoom it, consider that a bad user experience, that bring me to another point:

Font size

For mobile version, it is best to zoom at least 100% of the original font, just to accommodate with those browser that will zoom out the site when browsing.

display: none

Although mobile need to be low bandwidth, but in this case, especially I’m working with WordPress system, I’m more comfortable to cut bandwidth with the design itself. So display: none is the best friend to go.

I would definitely go with responsive design than create another mobile version. Of course, there too are pros and cons, especially when there is no option to go for desktop version, missing link on some hidden element and etc.

Fixing my scratched rim

The other day I was blur when parking my car, it was the same freaking spot I’ve been parked for months and I did not make it and scratched deep on the rim! So I tried to fix it with the spraying knowledge I gained back in my BMX biking day.

Fixing tools

First, getting the tools. One masking tape, one 400 sand paper, one 1000 sand paper (should be higher I bought wrong :( ), one spray can – #48 Sparkling Silver (was looking for metallic grey which has more similar colour).

Taped

Tape around the scratches area.

Sanded

Sand it nicely, but I did it too much, due to the 400 and using my finger! How stupid can I go.

Sprayed

Spray it a bit to cover the scratches mark.

Scratches mark

Then, the result isn’t that nice though, since it was silver and the rim looks more greyish.

Touch up

So did a final touch up, using the 1000 sand paper again.

And a few light spray around the area.

Scratches removed

Looking good though I failed on a few part, like using finger and using heavy sanded paper. But it works nonetheless :D
