A big purchase of common item

A person buying ordinary products in a supermarket is in touch with his deepest emotions.
John Kenneth Galbraith

As I were telling my wife that since we will off to honeymoon soon, why not just change the camera? A better picture worth the memory. She did agree but not in a rush, until just now.

My parents came back from Kuching this evening. They will off to Kuching later tomorrow, and they were looking to purchase a compact camera.

Coincidence or fate? I don’t know, so I told them I would sell them the compact camera that we have and buy a new one :P Just business, but in a cheaper price than any market can offer. So off we go searching for a new camera, a Digital SLR to be precise.

Since it doesn’t work a lot in our daily life and cost more than what needed for us, a detailed research is very important for us. Unlike looking for weight loss pills, cost a little and can change within months. This machine have to be within our needs and last long.

So I figure I use the power of, social media. I posted a question, and some friends recommend…

Pentax K-x

Pentax K-x

Just heard of the brand for few times, not so convincing. However, a friend of mine did use this camera. Should check them out more.

Sony Alpha 330

Sony Alpha 330

No, Rojaks did not recommend me this one. A friend of mine who is a lecturer in Limkokwing recommend this to me. But I do get a lot of good review of this machine for starter :)

Olympus E450

Olympus E450

Ok, ok, ok. I heard a lot of bad review of this brand. But hey, at least they are innovative enough to come out with Olympus E-P1, should give them some credit. A little out of my budget, but look nice, more studies needed :P

Olympus E620

Olympus E620

Not as classic as E450, but worth a look.

Alright, I know I shouldn’t have left Canon and Nikon aside. But then again, their products are way ahead my budget for the little features I needed. Somehow, I am not a brand person, unlike my wife, a hardcore Canon fan. So let it be. I like the market, there are brands and product line waiting to fish customer like me!

So far, for the outlook, I prefer Sony Alpha 330 and Olympus E450 :) Going off to research a bit of them…

5 most used web trend

From time to time, the web trend change. I remember back in the 90′, Java dropdown menu was a huge hit! Dynamic Drive became a site I always visit when I want to learn more about HTML. Thinking back, I did regret I did not note down whatever everybody was doing on that time. So I need to note something down here and see how it change :)

Perfect Pixel

Perfect pixel

A lot of site are using the perfect pixel. It make a perfect break :)

Cut-out text

Cut-out text

Cut out text was a huge trend back last year. Almost all great design applying it. But overall color is an important step.

Radial Gradient

Radial gradient

I think until today, radial gradient still widely used.

Transparency

Normally used by CSS3. This effect is mostly applied on tooltip.

Text Shadow

Hope to see something more different next. Do you observe any trend that widely used nowadays?

The chatting trend, just joined

The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
Ellen Parr

Recently I found lots of funny doctored images of a chat screenshot – Chatroulette. Out of curiosity, I login and check it out myself.

Chatroulette

It is one of the simplest web I’ve ever come across, and only one function, webcam chatting with strangers, strangerssss! I didn’t spend too much time on it though, just find it interesting as it will keep looking for a stranger once you click on “Next”…

Chatroulette

These are all the people I met within half an hour, including a penis and boobs :)

Shanzai products

Gilr’s money is the easiest to made.
My Sister

With a few gang bringing in all those China products together with some China salesmen and you-know-what. But one fashionable item started to booming in Sibu…

Handbags

Yes, all the shanzai designer handbags :)

Seriously, I cannot afford a RM1K handbag for my wife. I look around Sibu shopping malls, there is no original product of all those handbags, beside stuff from Grand Parkson.

The other night out with friends, we all agreed that fashionable items are the most profitable business ever existed. Image the profit margin of 200% from the wholesales price. How many men’s shop and how many female’s shop in a mall.

Now I understand why my sister also agree with making money from the female instead :)

Recent kopitiam talk

Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, only this time more wisely.

Short talk: Go to the small internal round about behind Rejang Medical, you’ll see 4 corners of 5 kopitiams promoting themselves, each of them have security camera ready in kopitiam :? I still can’t understand why kopitiam need security camera

Kopitiam

I hang out a lot in kopitiam recently.

Most of my friends, who is in between 25 to 28 are now looking for chance, a chance of a life time.

The thing is, we all looking for a big, quick, easy and safe way. The best is to get profit within next few months. My experience tells me, as long as a business running under a year or 2 is not profitable. Unless, you are working on pre-booking order like most people did :) But the profit is not my friends are looking for, that is the problem.

Some of my friends came for me because they think that “web” can be so automatic and safe. So it took off “quick, easy and safe” from them and only left “big” to solve.

I would take “big” as… Greed.
