Shadowless and shadow

Wu Yia Bor (has shadow (or not)?)
- adjective
1. suspect or suspecting
2. Unreality

After knowing my wife for the past 6 years, I’ve been a hokkien speaking all the while with her, and spending lots of my time with her as well.

My wife and I

I find it interesting in hokkien, since it’s my second dialect, so don’t mind me to come to this situation :)

Hokkien developed the word “Tu Lan” which literally means pig’s penis in English. This is an expressive languge of getting mad or angry over a situation/person/item.

Wu Yia Bor” which literally means has shadow or not in English. This is an adjective of suspesious statement.

Why would it come to this word? The only explanation I can give was that, as long as a thing has no shadow, it is fake, it is a ghost, in short, not a real deal. So shadow is the keyword here.

Example usage: Wu Yia Bor Hokkien an neh ki guai?

What social network is all about

Sibu bird view

Coming back home, I am deeply appreciate my Streamyx connection :) Malaysia got to have the best Internet broadband, seeing how it developed, don’t compare to Singapore or Korea then. First thing we both did once I stepped back home was plugged in my laptop (Which I brought it to Indonesia) and start checking online credit report, bills and letters at home and none but not least – social network sites.

Social network sites

Strangely, it became something I need to check into daily. Not because I wanted to look for somebody to chat with, but to find new stuff, discover new things.

What’s happening?

Twitter is newsIf you ask me, I would say Twitter is the news portal I read everyday. Notice that it changed the question from “What are you doing?” to “What’s happening?“. So obviously, Tweeples (As in Twitter People or Twitter User) don’t want to know your location already, they wanted to know what is happening in your location instead.

Gossip or a new Topic?

FacebookI’ve just encountered a family, where they would talk about what this relative or that friends are doing. I’m not sure if I would say it is a gossip or a topic in a family conversation. The Facebook status stated “What’s on your mind?), whoever really falling too deep into the trap will soon discover that they should be too honest on Facebook.

If I would need to sum up these 2 social network sites. They ARE definitely about gossip and gossip and more gossip!

I’m a proud Malaysian

I am in luck on this trip to Medan. I manage to catch up with those students who are in examination period, like PMR, SPM, STPM and etc.

Medan city

The other day, while I was shopping for the best wrinkle cream in a mall namely Maxi Mart. I over heard some interesting conversation. I wasn’t aware that I was this “kepo” (busybody) until I notice I started to over heard some conversation.

What shocking was that these students, actually already has the leaked answers for their papers. Now, this is how they works. Due to the over whelming schools available in Indonesia, there will be a few set of papers targeting to different schools. So, getting (or buying) the right information is crucial, not only answers.

Now, I’m not finish yet. The next point is that, if you cannot get the right information and right answers, you can, of course bribe the examiner to pass you.

Medan Merdeka Walk

I must say, even Malaysia is corrupt, or even dropped a few point in the corruption index this year, it still cannot compare with that I know here. Why am I not proud to be Malaysian?

Freedom

The law will never make men free, it is men that have to make the law free.

Yes, time to accept how it was when I first accepted it.

Medan

I’m living a quite rebel life before, and because of that, I get so used to freedom I have had all the time. I started to sign my own result report when I was still Form1 and I am free to do so, even though my parent knows it.

Few years back, when I first stepped into Medan ground, I was, still a college boy. As a sign of respect, asking for permission is common. For some, like me, feel it is weird to “ask” for permission than “tell” the permission.

Ok, let’s check if you are still with me.

As an adult, like me. I would prefer to “tell” you that I am permitted to go out and I am going out now. Which, I did like that back in my rebel years. However, if I am to “ask” you to give me the permission of going out, it’s definitely weird and not so much of a freedom I’m looking for.

Especially when getting old enough to buy stuff. Why I would need anyone (beside, wife) permission to buy an item, if I am to get a new gadget, I need no permission. If I am to get testosterone creams, I need not ask.

Maybe I need to change my perspective or learn to adopt another kind of freedom. Come out from the comfort zone that I’ve been with all the while, and put just a little time onto something not comfortable…

Beautify or not?

Price is what you pay; value is what you get.
Warren Buffet

CSS
The other day, I have a request to make a site that inspired by http://www.HumanGrowthHormone.net by using a CMS, so I chosed WordPress (duh!). While I get a lot of WordPress design, usually my quotation is set on the overall design, complexity and time spent, which means I don’t include the back-end (read: theme options / theme setup, whatever you name it)

While some design that needs a lot of “easy adjustment“, I will put them all in the Theme Options. However, some may have exceed a whole page of 1600px and more. That is when my question kicks in!

WordPress theme options

Do I leave what it is like, or do I apply something else into it for their user experience? I can, of course, dump the time spending on beautify it with JQuery or CSS. After all, it’s the WordPress engine that should be dealing with it.

Somehow, while I was working to finish it, my mind thought about the initial agreement and the time it spend on it… It’s just making my life harder to choose.
